Burning Brighter Than the Rest of the Stars

Burning brighter than the rest of the stars is all about getting ahead and performing better than the people you compete with at work, in life or your business venture. This subject should be of interest to anyone who wants to stand out and grow personally and professionally. The title is a modern day metaphor and a fresh new look at generating great ideas and the thinking skills needed to perform at a high level of competence.

Whether we like it or not, we all live in an extremely competitive world we call a galaxy of stars. These stars represent your peers, your subordinates, your teammates, even your superiors. All of us are competitive in our own unique ways while trying to stand out or get ahead, in the personal galaxies we live in.

A person’s galaxy exists in a couple of different universes. Your universe includes your job, the company in general, social clubs, as well as other professional activities and social networks. Your galaxy would also include your business.

What is the best approach to rise above the pile of current talents, stars, fast trackers and wannabe’s, living in your own individual galaxies? What’s at the center and what exactly are the prompts guiding stars that burn brighter? Here is how Jack Welch responded to what could be described in the book as truly a career determining question; how do you differentiate yourself, and escape the from the pack? Ninety nine pct. of all employees are in the pile just because these people do not think. The first thing that you need is the need for getting out of ‘the pile’. The start is the one with great ideas.” -Jack Welch.

Thinking better and generating ideas are excellent core strategies that will serve as catalysts for ensuring your future employment or business successes. These skills are the key to setting you apart from the pack. “Good thinkers are always in demand. An individual who knows how may always have a job, but a person who knows why, will always be his boss.” -John Maxwell.

Ever speculate why some people are prosperous in their positions, at the office or running a business, while others are not? People who have good idea are more successful overall and have greater achievements and income. That’s a fact. Schooling or lack of it does not separate great thinkers with great ideas from mediocre thinkers and ho hum ideas. Nor will being smart or not being smart. Great thinkers use different skill sets, and just think differently than unsuccessful individuals, and that’s shown in the degree of the ideas they could create.

“The battle for control and leadership of the world has always been waged most effectively at the idea level.” -The American Covenenant. If battle for control and leadership of the world is waged at the idea level, doesn’t it make sense that great thinking and ideas in business is the single most effective strategy that makes you shine brighter that the other stars?

An organization pays for thinkers and great ideas. Great thinkers are fantastic problem solvers, and they often provide ideas which help build an organization. These competencies aren’t taught through our school systems, so it’s not OK to say I don’t have a higher education, or a degree that lets me be competitive on an even field with other people’s great ideas.

Facts are, organizations are not eager to pay for mediocrity. Would you? If you were a small business owner or higher level executive, you would not pay a lot of money for the middle of the pack, when you can pay top dollar for the top! This is why you shouldn’t be content being inside the middle of the pile!!!

The art of creativity, generating great ideas and great thinking are skill sets that are specific strategies, tools and core competencies. But these skill sets do not stand alone to make you effective. Creativity skill sets drive the engine of great ideas and great thinkers.

At the heart of generating great ideas and great thinking is creativity. You can’t be very creative without this skill set and creative tools. Collectively, they broaden the Body of Knowledge (BOK) that makes up thinking, and also improves great ideas and improves your thinking.

The essence of creativity is much larger than the skill set it really includes, which is why some people don’t see themselves as the creative type, even after they learn about the art of creativity. It’s one more reason why those who think they are not creative say they can rarely come up with a good idea, let alone a great idea. The strings of great thinking, great ideas and creativity are bundled up with each other.

The very best news concerning the art of creative imagination, great thinking and great ideas is that everyone can understand these skill sets. In a short time, you can become quite effective utilizing these tools, strategies and resources as a daily practice.

In the final analysis, discover the skill sets connected with creativity, great thinking and generating great ideas. You will no longer be a dim light on the horizon, but a glimmering beacon, and most importantly, it is possible for you to be distinguished from the pack and grow to be the shining star in your own galaxies.
