True Blood has returned to the screens courtesy of cable HBO TV. Season 2 began showing on 14th June and has pulled in the biggest number of viewers since the finale of the Sopranos showed about 2 years ago ” some 3.7 million.

As is what appears to be the norm, the first part of Season 2 begins with a murder, the body being found in the local detectives car. Interesting start! There are a few hot and steamy scenes too, just to add a bit more oomph to the proceedings, as if there was not enough already.

When I first began watching Season 1, I was pretty much addicted to it from the very beginning. Unlike the typical vampire film or series, True Blood brings a true life to vampires and other creatures of the night and makes them more human and humane, on the whole.

Instead of hiding away the vampires and other various creatures in True Blood are very open and very normal.

Getting back to the murder for now though. The victim has been found in the local detectives car with their heart ripped from their body. How gruesome is that? Who ever is to have committed this act is far from sane!

Sookie Stackhouse, the main protagonist, finds out about her former lovers child. In fact, she is not Bills child but he has been forced to bring her up as his own because he killed another vampire in defence of Sookie. Furthermore, she learns about her uncles passing and that he has left her an inheritance. This particular uncle though was known to be a paedophile, so she is far from comfortable in accepting the inheritance.

Sookies brother Jason Stackhouse, meanwhile is getting himself more deeply involved with religion. This may not be so unusual but for the fact that up until recently he was a blood drinking womanizer with no real focus on life but to have fun and care less. Sookie though, is not happy with this and prefers the old Jason to the current one.

So far then we have witnessed a number of very strange goings on and no doubt we are going to witness a lot more. Hopefully some of the following questions will be answered soon:

1. Who is this woman who goes by the name of MaryAnn and why is she hanging around small town Bon Temps asking questions?

2. How come Sam Merlotte is so nervous about her being there? What is he hiding?

3. Eric Northman has Lafayette held as a prisoner. Will Lafayette come out of this situation unscathed?

4. With regards Sookies romantic inclinations, will Eric win over Sookie or is Bill going to succeed where Eric will fail?

5. Will Jason Stackhouse see the light before its too late or will he go deeper and deeper into religion?

Ah, so much to look forward to! I suggest you make sure you book the television for Sunday nights from now on and if you cant manage to do this or you dont get access to HBO, then wait a bit ” True Blood Season 2 will be out on DVD in the months to come. Do not worry though, Ill keep you updated as soon as there is word of it, I promise you that!
