Howdy Friends!

My pal David Garfinkel asked me to present on a teleseminar called “Repeat Customer Profit Bonanza!” (I guess he must have known how much repeat business I get… the cat is out of the bag now…)

Funny thing… I never knew WHY I did a good job at it.

So I dove into the bowels of my mind (ok… maybe that’s not a good visual…) and I tore the whole process apart. Took a long time, but in the end, I liked the formula.

Wanna know my secret?

Here’s what I came up with.

It’s a formula in fact, it’s the great formula for Mark Joyner’s Great Formula! (Sorry Mark, didn’t mean to steal your thunder)

1- Results.

How else can you gain the confidence of a customer than with trust and respect. That’s why they pay you right? When you deliver - people expect it to continue. So you need to make certain they get quality from you.

But there’s more to it than just results…

Next, you need a dose of good old fashioned COMMUNICATION.

Look for information your client will value… and deliver it without thought of anything in return. But return it will…

It can be as easy as a phone call, or an email with a tasty tidbit of info they need. But in the end, you become the go-to guy or gal.

Then comes VALUE.

When you provide extra value, you become a center of influence, you become the go-to guy (or gal!)

I go out of my way to help my clients and customers value outside of what they see as my core competence.

My customers think I’m ‘just’ a copywriter… but only at first. I end up blowing them away with good marketing advice too… for nothing. Now I’m different than most of my competition. And that’s a good thing!

Don’t be one of those people who only do what they need to do to get by… get outside of that mindset.

4- Customer care.

Why not be different from all the cold prickly “service” people are used to? Think that will set you apart?

And when you consider how lousy customer service is online these days (few marketers seem to “get it”) an exemplary customer care can be a HUGE differentiator.

Take a hint from Mark… even Rick Raddatz. They are leaders in online customer care.

But Rick didn’t just pay lip service to the concept. When I wrote his Instant Teleseminar copy, we added Ricks personal cell phone number in the copy.

How come?

We were showing his committment to customer care, and if customers didn’t get a problem solved, they could call him directly and he would make sure they did!

Which would you rather have?

Perhaps you’re thinking “That’s good for Rick, but I don’t want to answer all those calls.” Fair enough. What may surprise you is that Rick got very few calls regarding customer serice issues. But he did end up getting some good feedback on his product, and several good ideas.

Taking care of EXISTING customers is the cheapest and most effective way to build your business PERIOD! But many marketers see it as “make the sale - goodbye sucka”.

When your highest cost is acquiring a NEW customer, taking care of EXISTING customers is the cheapest and most effective way to build your business PERIOD!

Now, just take action on the formula and watch what happens. Follow it closely and your sales will see a nice boost.

While everyone else is still trying to sell, sell, sell, you’re not involved in selling any longer. Now it’s all about attraction and positioning.

You’re now in the position of a knowledgeable service provider who has expertise and is being sought out and pursued.

With the right preparation, you can become the expert and leader that is sought after. It is easier than you may think. So now when you do make phone calls people will feel honored to receive that call.

This is the first article and it is intended to explain the idea of affiliate marketing to people who are just starting to look for information on the subject. If you are an experienced marketer, or if you understand the concept and know how to locate products, this article is not for you. The following articles will include more advanced steps and even experienced marketers may find them interesting.

Let’s start by trying to define “affiliate marketing”. I always say that there is a similarity between Affiliate Marketing and the California Gold Rush of the 19th century. The fortune is there and you have to uncover it. Anyway, back to the definition: the affiliate marketer (you) gets a nice commission from the product seller every time a purchase is made by one of the visitors that you have sent to their sale page.

There are different types of products: material products - from face cream to a million dollar villa; digital products - software, ebooks, videos, that can be downloaded instantly from the Internet; and products in the form of registrations to courses, opts-in to email lists etc. Many thousands of merchants pay commissions to their affiliates for sales and for leads.

Each ad and keyword must be monitored in great depth and performance assessed. It is easy for an ad to cost you quite a bit of money if it just produces traffic with wasted leads. Ads are easily tracked when they have links leading back to your website. You can easily see what sort of traffic and sales each one is producing. Discard or tweak any ads that are counterproductive.
